Working for Imtech 4, one of Europe’s largest contractors Fläkt Woods, a FläktGroup brand, previously supplied 22 EU air-handling units featuring the Econet energy recovery system. These units managed the climate within a new building at the airport, known locally as the "CD-Link". It links the old Terminal 1 Gate C and the new Terminal 2 Gate D. The new structures supported the arrival of the A380 aircraft.
FläktGroups' modular air handling units offer full flexibility allowing different sizes and functions to be combined to meet virtually any air-handling requirement. The EU range supplied for the contract, sized between 21 to 84, provide functionality with a high degree of flexibility.
Additionally the equipment has been fitted active carbon filters (a total of 3700 carbon filter tubes) ensuring ultimate air quality.
All of the air handling units were upgraded to include Econet®energy recovery system, incorporating changes that have made it 70-75% efficient (50% more efficient than plate heat exchangers) and more versatile than any other HVAC system currently available.
Econet integrates energy recovery, heating and cooling into one set of coils, so components, such as heating/cooling coils, pumps, valves, piping and insulation, are no longer required.
Advanced Econet also optimises the energy recovery using a new pre programmed control system, which constantly ensures the minimum amount of energy is used to meet the air requirements. Econet is supplied with a prefabricate pump unit. All necessary components for optimising the energy recovery as pump, frequency inverter, controls and necessary valves and sensors are included. This reduces installation time, saving both time and money.
